SETTINGS FOR THE OSSC AND THE SNLCAIR QL AND COMPATIBLE SYSTEMS ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ The OSSC in use is v1.6. The computer (Q60/Thor/QL/Aurora) is connected to the DB15 AV3 input via an appropriately wired VGA cable (with the R, G, B, Vsync and Csync signals fed to the OSSC). The monitor these settings were successfully tested with is a Hyundai W220D, which is a 22" 1680x1050 LCD monitor. Note that after setting up everything for the Thor/QL, Q60 and Aurora (in non-QL modes), you may save all the settings into a single profile (since they use different resolutions, the OSSC will not mix the corresponding settings). Only the Pre-ADC gain (0 for the QL and Aurora, around 6 for the others) will have to be changed manually when changing the computer connected to the OSSC. However, if you wish to use the Aurora in a QL mode (512x256 or 256x256), it would conflict with the Q60 (1024x512) mode which requires different sampling rates and H backporh (or synclen) timing while both using the 480p resolution of the OSSC; in this case, you would have to save the OSSC settings for the Q60 and the Aurora in different profiles (which could then also take into account the different Pre-ADC gain setting values). 1.- Common settings: --------------- a.- Video in proc: - B/Pb gain, G/Y gain, R/Pr gain: 26 (default value) - B/Pb offset, G/Y offset, R/Pr offset: 128 (default value) The rest: do not care/keep default values. b.- Settings opt: - Autodetect input -> Off - Initial input -> AV3: RGBHV - Link input->prof -> Off - Link prof->input -> AV3: RGBHV The rest: do not care/keep default values. Save your profile in one slot (e.g slot 0) from this menu. c.- Audio options: Do not care/keep default values. d.- Compatibility: - Full TX setup -> On - AV3 interlace fix -> Off e.- Post-proc.: - Mask brightness -> 0 - Vertical mask -> 0 pixels - Horizontal mask -> 0 pixels The rest: do not care/keep default values. f.- Scanline opt.: - Scanlines -> Off The rest: do not care/keep default values. g.- Output opt.: - TX mode -> HDMI (RGB) (may work also in other modes, depending on your monitor). The rest is dealt with below. h.- Sync opt.: Keep default values. i.- Sampling opt.: - -> [whatever active resolution] -> OK to enter sub-menu: - H. s.rate adj -> 0 (i.e. always keep this setting at its defult value). - 480p in sampler -> DTV 480p - Allow upsample2x -> Off (On may work too: choose best picture) - Allow TVP HPLL2x -> On (Off works too: choose best picture) The rest is dealt with below. IMPORTANT NOTE: when synced to a particular display mode, the OSSC always shows under its "" sub-menu entry the mode it is using for the current input signal; changing this mode (with left/right remote control keys) and pressing OK to edit the settings in that sub-menu won't allow you to change the *active* settings and would only mess up with other settings you already set for different resolutions. So, when editing the "" settings, do *always* accept the OSSC suggestion and press the OK remote key without changing the mode first (i.e. never use the left and right remote keys while the OSSC displays ""). 2.- Q60 settings: ============ 2.1.- OSSC sync display: ----------------- AV3: RGBHV 536p 38.29kHz 71.45Hz The monitor reports: 1024x512 71.4Hz 2.2.- Settings menus: -------------- a.- Video in proc: - Pre-ADC gain: 6 (YMMV depending on monitor sensitivity) The rest: do not change. g.- Output opt.: - 480p/576p proc -> PassThru The rest: do not change. i.- Sampling opt.: - -> 480p -> OK to enter sub-menu: - H. active -> 1024 - H. backporch -> 186 (YMMV depending on monitor) - H. synclen -> 81 (YMMV depending on monitor) - H. s.rate adj -> 0 - H. samplerate -> 1305 - Sampling phase -> 180 deg (YMMV for best picture) - V. active -> 512 - V. backporch -> 18 (YMMV depending on monitor) - V. synclen -> 6 (YMMV depending on monitor) The rest: do not change. 3.- THOR XVI/QL settings: ==================== 3.1.- OSSC sync display: ----------------- Thor XVI: QL: AV3: RGBHV 314p AV3: RGBHV 312p 15.67kHz 49.90Hz 15.62kHz 50.08Hz The monitor reports: 1280x1024 49.8Hz 3.2.- Settings menu: ------------- a.- Video in proc: - Pre-ADC gain: 0 for the QL, 6 for the Thor (YMMV depending on monitor) The rest: do not change. g.- Output opt.: - 240p/288p proc -> Line4x - Line4x mode -> Generic 4:3 The rest: do not change. i.- Sampling opt.: - -> 1280x288 -> OK to enter sub-menu: - H. active -> 1280 - H. backporch -> 166 (YMMV depending on monitor) - H. synclen -> 72 (YMMV depending on monitor) - H. samplerate -> 1560 - Sampling phase -> 180 deg (YMMV for best picture) - V. active -> 256 - V. backporch -> 29 (YMMV depending on monitor) - V. synclen -> 3 (YMMV depending on monitor) The rest: do not change. 4.- Aurora settings with jumpers in SVGA monitor mode: ================================================= 4.1.- OSSC sync display: ----------------- In SVGA 1024x576 mode: AV3: RGBHV 601p 31.25kHz 51.99Hz The monitor reports: 1024x586 51.9Hz In QL modes (512x256 and 256x256): AV3: RGBHV 546p 31.25kHz 57.23Hz The monitor reports: 1024x512 57.1Hz 4.2.- Settings menu: ------------- a.- Video in proc: - Pre-ADC gain: 0 The rest: do not change. i.- Sampling opt.: i.1.- 1024x576 resolution settings: - -> 800x600 -> OK to enter sub-menu: - H. active -> 1024 - H. backporch -> 168 (YMMV depending on monitor) - H. synclen -> 60 (YMMV depending on monitor) - H. samplerate -> 1280 - Sampling phase -> 180 deg (YMMV for best picture) - V. active -> 586 - V. backporch -> 9 (YMMV depending on monitor) - V. synclen -> 6 (YMMV depending on monitor) The rest: do not change. i.2.- 512x256 and 256x256 QL resolutions settings: - -> 480p (*) -> OK to enter sub-menu: - H. active -> 1024 - H. backporch -> 105 (YMMV depending on monitor) - H. synclen -> 128 (YMMV depending on monitor) - H. samplerate -> 1280 - V. active -> 512 - V. backporch -> 20 (YMMV depending on monitor) - V. synclen -> 6 (YMMV depending on monitor) The rest: do not change.
